Yoga Nidra is a state of consciousness where you are deeply relaxed and alert. The body, mind, and spirit can all benefit from the deep rest and healing that can occur in this state.
Yoga Nidra is always practiced while lying in Savasana, the corpse pose. It is a fully guided practice. This is because it takes careful attention to the directions to get past the waking state and into deeper layers of the self. Benefits can be felt in as little as a 20 minute session. The full process typically takes anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes. Yoga Nidra can be used like a power nap but without the grogginess when you get up. Instead you arise alert, focused and ready for the day. Yoga Nidra can also be used before bed by helping you quiet your mind to settle in for deep rest.
